CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa.(November 2011) – Alliance College Alumni Association, thru the arm of its
501(c)(3) Foundation (ACAAF), is honored to announce the winner of its 2011 scholarship. Kathryn Carone, a freshman at Pennsylvania State University- Behrend Campus this year’s recipient.

Carone is a 2011graduate of Hampton High School in Greenville, PA. While at Hampton Kathryn maintained a 3.6 academic average, was a
3-year varsity letter winner in softball, a 2-year letter winner in Marching and Concert band and an active member of the Student Council. Carone is also a student at Fairgrieve School of Dance where she studied ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, and lyrical.

Kathryn has completed numerous hours of community service which include: aide at Windsor Retirement Home, tutor at Poff Elementary School, Faith Formation aide at St. Richard’s Church, and most recently raising money for pancreatic cancer research through the Fund-A-Cure: The Greg and Cathy Griffith Family Foundation. 

Kathryn is the daughter of 1981 Alliance College alumnus Greg Carone. In her essay Kathryn states that she writes “not only to honor her dad, but to also thank Alliance College for giving her the life she has today. To her father, Greg, “Alliance College is more than just the name of his college but it stands for the alliances he has made with everyone who touched his life in college.” Greg Carone states, “It would be an honor and privilege for Katie to have any affiliation with Alliance College.”
